VI. CONCLUSION
Although the scientific world was shaken by the discovery of prions, it will recover. More scientists will be open to new ideas and the study of prions will progress. As we discover more about the mechanics of prions, we will learn more about the diseases they cause. Perhaps, in time, we will be able to reverse the effects of TSEs and prevent them.
Although most of the scientific world has reluctantly accepted Dr. Stanley Prusiner's research, there is much to be done. No one has seen a prion, yet, and no one has found absolute proof of their existence. The future for TSE research is wide open and exciting. By learning more about prions, we can discover the intricacies of the human body and protein disorders. We may even begin to understand the mystery of the human mind.
