Rules

Below are a list of rules. This is a long list, but if you use your wits, you don't have to memorize it word for word. Below the list are activities you need to complete to pass the rules portion of the review.

Stuff not to do:

1. Shirking responsibility
2. "Horseplay"
3. Wandering around
4. Disturbing others
5. Running
6. Eating without class permission
7. Touching materials before instructed to do so
8. Endangering class members
9. Performing unauthorized experiments
10. Starting before reading instructions
11. Failing to report accident or incorrect procedure
12. Not wearing goggles when asked to do so
13. Touching heated materials
14. Putting broken glass in sink
15. Inhaling chemicals
16. Failure to wash after a lab
17. Failure to turn water off
18. Pulling on cord, not the plug
19. Pouring water on a chemical fire
20. Failing to remain at work station
21. Failing to clean up

You made it. Now, complete the following three activities:

1. Choose one of the following written assignments to complete -

• For each rule, please explain WHY it is important.
• Write a 3/4 page paper on a way to remember all the rules
• Write all of the rules as positives rather than negatives. (For example, instead of saying "No food or drink" change it to "eating is permissible only when the teacher says.")

2. Draw a map of the lab. Include locations of the following:

• fire extinguisher
• eye wash
• fire blanket
• first aid kit
• goggles
• alternate exits
• emergency shower
• microscope room door

3. Learn three new things about the lab. Feel free to open cupboards, as long as you don't mess things up and you close them afterwards. Write the new things on the back of your map.
